Brazil"s exports of wooden furniture decline 3.1% in May

In May 2023, Brazil's wooden furniture exports decreased 3.1% year-on-year, with a total of 1,154.8 thousand pieces exported. The value of these exports also declined by 9.3% to $58.9 million.
According to Lesprom Analytics, Brazil's exports of bedroom furniture contracted by 15.8% year-on-year, reaching a total of 393.4 thousand pieces. On the positive side, Brazil's exports of kitchen furniture demonstrated growth, increasing by 13.0% year-on-year to 103.4 thousand pieces. This category showcased resilience and potential, indicating a favorable market for Brazilian kitchen furniture abroad. However, the exports of office furniture experienced a significant decline of 26.6% year-on-year, totaling 25.9 thousand pieces.
In terms of export destinations, Brazil experienced a significant decline of 42.8% in wooden furniture exports to the United States, reaching 224.5 thousand pieces. Exports to Chile decreased by 22% to 102.9 thousand pieces, while exports to Uruguay increased by 28.6% to 102.9 thousand pieces.
